It’s safe to say that this year’s Married At First Sight hasn’t blown us away with the romance. But between all the fights, drink throwing and toxic traits, one love story has emerged – but we’re not referring to any of the couples.

Sure, some couples have had their cute moments but when it comes to real love and support in the reality TV melting pot, it’s the women supporting one another that’s made us swoon this year.

After Booka Nile and husband Brett Helling left the experiment (very amicably we may add), she, Beck Zemek and Alana Lister adorably made hearts with their hands to lend their support.

“I came here to find love… And I did. I didn’t find it with a romantic partner the way I had planned but instead, found it within the beautiful friendships that I was fortunate enough to form during my time in the experiment. I have built and forged the most unique, powerful bonds with some of the most incredible women I have ever had the privilege of knowing and so tonight, I walk away happy, grateful, and with a heart full of love,” Booka penned on Instagram shortly after her exit.

Even though her marriage with prestige car salesperson James Susler didn’t work out, barber Jo Todd also shared the best thing to come out of MAFS – her friendship with Belinda Russell.

The duo were tight during their time on the show and after Jo left the experiment, she penned a heartfelt tribute to her on-screen BFF.

“Everything happens for a reason, and the reason I went on #MAFS was to meet you,” the bride captioned a snap of herself and Belinda.

This season’s brides have also been committed to calling out the questionable behaviour of the grooms and sticking up for their sisters.

At the final Commitment Ceremony, Alana reflected on why she decided to expose Bryce Ruthven and unintentionally her husband Jason Engler after Bryce allegedly claimed he would be single by New Year’s Eve.

“I care about Liss, Liss deserves better and she deserves to know the truth,” Alana stated, speaking of Bryce’s wife Melissa Rawson who was caught in the crossfire.

“It’s unfortunate Jason was involved – I tried not to bring Jason’s name into it – but I’m sick of seeing girls get treated like s***. It’s easy to let people do the wrong thing to other people and it shouldn’t be the right thing to do but Liss deserved to know that information.”

Returning contestant Samantha also gave Melissa more information about Bryce’s alleged secret girlfriend at the girls’ night, and added that she did so with her fellow MAFS bride in mind.

“That’s when I thought, ‘No, I’m not going to let what happened to me happen to Melissa – I’m going to go in and tell her exactly what I’ve heard, instead of her finding out after everyone else has,” she told TV WEEK.

Even science has shown that women look out for each other when the going gets tough.

Studies have shown that in times of stress, women not only get that fight or flight feeling, but they also release oxytocin – the bonding hormone.

This burst of hormones can compel women to protect their loved ones such as children (if they have them) as well as other women.

In an environment as stressful as MAFS, it’s no wonder all that oxytocin was flowing!

In a world where there’s so much pressure and emphasis on finding The One, MAFS has shown this season that you don’t always need one guy – more often, the women in your life will be the ones to lift you up.

This tweet nicely sums up our thoughts on the matter.
