From her “plastic face” to her outrageous comments about cheating, outspoken bride Stacey Hampton has copped her fair share of hate since making her reality TV debut on Married At First Sight.
However, try as you might to bring her down, the mum-of-two says she’ll never let nasty trolls get under her skin. In a now-deleted Instagram video, Stacey said she can handle people hurling insults her way— including being called a gold digger— however, will not stand for people relentlessly harassing her co-stars or their families.
“If you’re slagging off on me, I love it, I don’t care, call me gold digger, I’ll laugh. I love Gold Digger by Kanye West and that’s gonna be my ringtone. Don’t care. But, when you bring other people into it, kids. Juvenile kids. Innocent people, parties who did not sign the contract, that’s disgusting.
“The fact that people are now going out to make death threats towards other humans and even family members and children is disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.”
While she hesitated to make the video in the first place, the MAFS bride said if she stayed silent the online bullying would only worsen.
“If you think that’s acceptable then I suggest Susan, Karen, anonymous, whatever your frickin’ username is, I suggest you put the Cheetos down and go up to your child and say ‘hope you die”,” she said angrily, pointing her finger at the camera.
Stacey continued: “You might feel superior behind your little phones, but going out and actually doing it and saying it to their face is another thing. We are humans, we were there to entertain you, don’t forget it, alright? I can deal with it. I don’t care. But I’ve got two kids too.”
The soon-to-be lawyer went on to say she’s found herself being the mother of the MAFS group and is even comforting people she didn’t get along with behind the scenes.
“I can handle it but not everyone else can. The fact that I’m consoling these people. I’m not even friends with all of them, and you know what? I would never say ‘go kill yourself’— even to Hayley [Vernon].”
This isn’t the first time Stacey has been forced to address the topic of online bullying. In February, she hit back at haters criticising her plastic surgery makeover, admitting she knows what we’re all thinking and couldn’t care less!
Posting a photo of herself at the first dinner party, she captioned the stunning Instagram post, “The face I make when I realise I forgot to ask Susan for her permission and advice on surgery. Nah but seriously, what a good night ahead.” She also added an emoji of a face with a tongue sticking out.
The post was met with love from her co-stars, with MAFS bride Natasha Spencer commenting: You kill me,” to which Stacey replied, “Addressing what we all thinking.”
Natasha— who used to date Sophie Monk’s Bachelorette boyfriend, Stu Laundy— continued to sing her praises, adding, “@staceylhampton I think your face looks damn good.”
Stacey responded again, saying, “@tashki_ as does yours but Susan is sad.”
