At last.
On Wednesday night’s episode of Married At First Sight, Mishel Meshes – and viewers – finally found out why Steve Burley isn’t ‘physically attracted’ to his long-suffering wife.
And we have MAFS producers to thank, because they forced the couples to watch their spouse’s audition tapes!

After watching Mishel’s, where she opens up about loving sex, affection and romance, it was Steve’s turn.
‘Yeah, I’m 51, but I don’t necessarily want to be matched with somebody my own age,’ he can be seen explaining to casting agents, with an air of bravado.
‘I want to be matched with someone mid to late thirties. I wouldn’t be inspired by it. My last relationship, the female was 38. My last date, I got there, she was sittin’ at the bar and she turns around and I went, straight away I went, nuh.’
‘How old was she,’ he was asked in the tape, to which he replied instantly, ’49.’
Awkward!
To say Steve was cocky, was an understatement.
‘I am 48, nearly 49,’ Mishel said turning to Steve.
‘Who?’ he replied, pretending to be confused.
‘Me.’
‘Yeah, of course you are,’ Steve insisted. ‘I have no issues about it. Not one issue about it at all.’
But Mishel wasn’t buying it. ‘Watching the video, he was expecting someone much younger than me,’ she told viewers, disappointed.
Steve said that’s the reason he came on Married At First Sight, to be matched with a woman his own age, because being with younger birds ‘clearly wasn’t working’ for him.
But Mishel wasn’t hard at hearing, nor were viewers!
‘That’s not what you said,’ she told him.
Steve pretended to be confused. ‘Didn’t I?’
Mishel rewound the tape, and played the part where Steve says he’s looking for a woman in her ‘mid to late thirties.’
‘I didn’t come here saying I wanted to be matched with a certain age,’ he insisted, despite say exactly that.
‘That’s what it sounded like,’ she snapped, but Steve needed to have the last word. ‘This was done a long time ago.’
Turning to viewers, Mishel said, ‘Deflecting is not cool. Admit it, accept it, own it. It explains a lot.’
