As one of the longest-lasting couples to emerge from Married At First Sight, Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli restore our faith in reality TV romance every day, especially when they share hilarious insights into their relationship.
On Monday night, former MAFS groom Michael, 30, shared an image of what pops up on Martha’s phone when he calls her and incidentally, the unexpected character from The Simpsons she reckons he’s like.
“OK so this is what my contact image is on Martha’s phone because she thinks I’m like Ned Flanders,” he captioned the screenshot.
Both Martha and Michael love to show the funny side of their relationship with fans.
Back in May, Michael horrified his girlfriend when he tricked her into thinking he’d shaved his beard off.
The former MAFS groom and online personal trainer shared in his Instagram reels that he used the no beard filter and sent photos to Martha.
“Voldemort has seen better days than you clean shaven… just saying,” the former MAFS bride remarked in the comments.
Despite their love to wind each other up, Martha and Michael have proved they’re a great team together.
“We have a great dynamic, she’s more upfront and she’s the louder one and outspoken and I’m more like conservative,” Michael told WHO back in June.
“We take pieces from each other and it balances out really well. I’m more outspoken than I was and she’s more in control of her emotions and decisions.”
Martha added: “I’m more emotionally aware than I ever was before I met Michael and he’s a lot more confident as well.”
Martha and Michael famously met when they were matched together on the sixth season of MAFS that aired back in 2019.
Despite admitting that Michael wasn’t her type when she first laid eyes on him, the former MAFS bride explained on the Shameless podcast that she feels they were meant to be together.
“I always say Michael and I meeting was like fate and I know it’s so cheesy because I hate saying cheesy s*** like that but I really think it is otherwise it doesn’t really make sense,” she said.
“I think we were going to meet no matter what. Michael actually in Melbourne lives five minutes away from my parents’ house. No matter what happened, in this lifetime we were going to meet and be together.”
