MasterChef: Back To Win is down to its top eight chefs, but Tessa Boersma left fans baffled with her elevated meat and three veg dish on Tuesday night.

Tessa served a rib-eye steak as part of her Immunity Challenge with a charred leek puree and quince and nashi puree, but viewers were perplexed when the majority of the meat she cooked didn’t appear on the plate and took to voice their concerns.
“What happened to the other 80% of the steak that Tessa cooked but didn’t serve?” one MasterChef fan tweeted.
“Did Tessa just cook that entire tomahawk to get one middle piece? What happens to the rest of if?!?” asked another.
One even remarked: “Did Tessa shove the other 3/4s of the steak in her handbag for her dog?”
Tessa was also criticised for the way she plated her dish with some saying it “leaves a lot to be desired”.
“That’s weird plating Tessa. Also seems to be a bit messy,” one wrote.
“Tessa’s plating is so 1990”, another added.
Food doesn’t go to waste in the MasterChef kitchen – in fact the show has an arrangement with charity Second Bite that works to tackle food waste and food insecurity.
Second Bite CEO Jim Mullan told 10 daily that, “Everything you see in the pantry that’s applied through the program, everything that we can possibly salvage, we collect and divert it to people in need, generally in the Melbourne area.”
While most of the cooked food is eaten by the judges, and the contestants often have a nibble as well, contestants are encouraged to take leftovers home.
Tessa may have made it to top eight, but eagle-eyed fans have figured out who makes it to the top four.
The four chefs are reportedly Reynold Poernomo, Laura Sharrad, Emelia Jackson and Poh Ling Yeow – with cake maker extraordinaire Emelia tipped to win this season.
The former marketing coordinator runs her cake business from her parents’ kitchen and says if she won, she’d be able to move her business into a cake studio “which would honestly make the world of difference.”
“If I won I don’t know if there’d be a better feeling in the world,” she said.
