Just weeks after Spice Girl, Mel B announced she’s divorcing Stephen Belafonte, the director has had his home raided by police due to reports that he held illegal guns.

TMZ have reported that US police were waiting for Belafonte at his $9 million Hollywood Hills mansion when he arrived home.

Police searched his person for weapons, then used a battering ram, crowbar and other tools to enter the premises.

After presenting the 41-year-old with a search warrant, federal agents swept through the property in search of illegal firearms.

US police had been investigating the family man as he had breached a previous domestic violence conviction from 2003 where it was ruled that the director would not be permitted to own guns.

According to reports, he was not arrested and police left the premises with no firearms.

During the raid, Stephen reportedly insisted that he had done nothing illegal and believed that he was the victim of an April Fool’s Day prank.

Speaking to TMZ, he revealed that he was “never in cuffs” and that they “didn’t detain me. They asked me questions real quick.”

He added: “I have no idea what’s going on, maybe they (random people) were pranking, swatting or something like that.”

Belafonte’s brother allegedly bragged to friends about Stephen possessing guns in his home.

Mel B was also said to feel “uneasy” about guns being kept around their children.
