We’ve been waiting with bated breath for Miley Cyrus to react to Elsa Pataky’s rogue comment about her messy split from Liam Hemsworth.

And while the pop sensation is usually one to lash out on Instagram or let her unfiltered opinion be known, she’s remained uncharacteristically coy about her former sister-in-law’s criticisms. Thankfully, a source in the “Slide Away” singer’s inner circle has kept us in the loop, claiming Miley is refusing to let the unexpected yet hurtful dig dampen her mood.
“Miley really isn’t concerned one way or another with what Elsa says or thinks about her,” an insider told Hollywood Life. “Miley knows the truth about her relationship [with Liam] and what went down between them.”
Although the former Disney star has kept her nose out of the drama, she’s reportedly disappointed the Spanish model said Liam “deserves someone better” considering they both agreed to remain tight-lipped about the less than ideal circumstances.
“She wishes everybody would respect their privacy and not speak about their past in public because she and Liam are the only ones who really know the full truth,” the source continued. “Miley knows that they both have family and loved ones who have shown them support during this split, but doesn’t think anybody should be speaking negatively about their situation. Miley’s family has never mentioned a word about Liam, and she would like his family to respect those same boundaries.”
In spite of this, Elsa’s comments still came as a shock to Miley— who dated Liam for over a decade— seeing as they once called each other sisters and best friends.
“They were extremely close so it came as a shock to everyone that she’d say something like that. The timing could not be worse because Miley’s recovering from major surgery— it’s kicking her when she’s down,” another insider told the outlet. “Miley’s family is mad, but no one is going to speak on this. They prefer to stay out of the negativity and be happy.”
While it’s unclear whether Miley and Chris Hemsworth’s wife have put their feud to bed, it appears as though someone from the pop star’s camp has since warned Elsa to back off! In an interview with Channel Seven’s Sunrise last week, Elsa was asked about Liam and Miley’s strained dynamic, however, she refused to make further comment.
“Look, Liam is doing great. But I prefer not to talk about his private life. He is the one that has to talk about it. But he is getting happier and he has his family to just go and stay with, his brothers and best friend. So that’s good, and he spent some time with us.”
Her refusal to dish on the situation came after she revealed during a press conference in Madrid last week that her brother-in-law is finally moving on!
“My brother-in-law, well… after a relationship that you’ve dedicated ten years to, he’s a little bit down, but he’s coping well, he’s a strong boy and he deserves the best.”
Elsa also claimed she and her husband have been there for Liam every step of the way as he continues to deal with the fallout from their public and extremely complicated split.
“You always find support in your family, and he’s joined at the hip with [Chris], who has been there to give all the strength he needed,” said Elsa, who was close friends with Miley during the pop star’s decade long relationship with Liam.
