To celebrate U.S. Father’s Day, Tish Cyrus—mother of singer Miley and wife of country crooner Billy Ray—has revealed a long-held family secret on Instagram.
Posting a photo of herself as a young child with her late father, Tish, who was born Leticia Finley wrote, “Not many people know that I was adopted at a week old.”
The spitting image of her daughters Miley, 23, and Noah, 16, Tish paid tribute to her “hero” adoptive parents Glenmore and Loretta Finley, saying they were “Truly angels sent from Heaven above. I had the most amazing childhood u could ever dream of!”
The mother of five then told fans of her heartbreak when her father died: “ I lost my Dad at 19 years old and I still miss him everyday and wish he got to meet my beautiful children. I do know he is still my guardian angel. . .I love you Dad!”
Tish, 49, has two children from her first marriage, Brandi, 29, and Trace, 27, and three with Billy Ray, who she married in 1993—Miley (her real name is Destiny), Braison, 22 and Noah.
Tish and Billy Ray have experienced a rocky relationship in recent years with the singer filing for divorce in 2010 before changing his mind. Tish also filed for divorce in 2013, but the long-term couple have since reconciled.
Her famous husband also got a shout out on Father’s Day from producer Tish, who shared a photo with the caption, “Can’t forget this guy! Happy Fathers day Lovey!!!!!! #lovehim#fathersday”
