Just when we thought we couldn’t get enough of Colleen Hoover’s work, the author is set to add another film to her book-to-screen repertoire, with The Hollywood Reporter confirming in early 2024 that pre-production was underway on the cinematic release of her romance-thriller novel Verity.
Taking to social media to confirm the news, Colleen wrote, “So excited for this one! @amazonmgmstudios announced that Verity is officially in the works!”
While the rest cast of her second screen adaptation has yet to be revealed, we do know who will be leading the ensemble as Verity Crawford – Anne Hathaway.
According to Variety, Anne will be working alongside The Idea of You director Michael Showalter while also serving as the film’s producer alongside Colleen.
Chucky Executive Producer Alex Hedlund and Channel Zero creator Nick Antosca have also reportedly joined the film as producers, bringing a wealth of horror production experience to the author’s first on-screen thriller.
News of the 44-year-old’s partnership with Amazon MGM Studios follows the headline-making release of her first film adaptation, It Ends With Us.
The film, which stars Blake Lively and Jane the Virgin star Justin Baldoni, received a less-than-glowing score of 56% on Rotten Tomatoes, with fans and critics alike criticising the film’s portrayal of themes of domestic violence and abuse.
Now, with another film in the pipeline, fans are eagerly anticipating the final product of Colleen’s Verity adaptation. Here’s what we know so far.

Self-published by Colleen Hoover in 2018, Verity centres around the character of Lowen Ashleigh – a struggling writer tasked with completing bestselling author Verity Crawford’s new novel series after she was involved accident.
As she delves deeper into Verity’s home, Lowen stumbles upon a manuscript that reveals chilling truths about Verity’s life and marriage to her husband Jeremy, leading her to become ensnared in a web of manipulation and deceit.
As the story progresses, Verity finds herself in an intense moral dilemma, forcing her to reconcile between what actions are ethically just and what best feeds her desires.
