BEN & VASIL, VIC.
‘I’ve been in the kitchen from a young age,’ Ben, 27, tells New Idea.
It’s safe to say, Ben and his best friend Vasil, 28, can’t be underestimated.
Bartenders from Melbourne, the boys say Manu’s old hats shouldn’t be fooled by their laid-back larrikin nature.
‘I’m mostly self-taught with a few tips from family,’ Vasil adds.
JENNI & LOUISE, QLD
These lovely ladies from the gorgeous Sunshine Coast have been by each other’s sides through it all, and now they hope they can hold the MKR trophy side-by-side!
Jenni, 42, and Louise, 39, tell New Idea they met 11 years ago at an antenatal class, becoming instant pals.
‘We wanted a fun adventure and to show Australia who we are as cooks, friends, mums and bloggers,’ says Jenni.
SUE ANN & SYLVIA, VIC.
If you’ve seen the MKR promos on Channel Seven, you’ll know these ladies are very competitive and confident cooks, with a serious crush on their mentor, Colin!
‘MKR gives me the platform to share my passion for Malaysian food and my mother’s dishes,’ says Sue Ann, 56, who tells New Idea show she spent her childhood with Sylvia, 52, in Malaysia.
Now both living in Melbourne, the ladies can’t wait to show Australia their authentic Malaysian cuisine. Yum!
KERRY & KAYLENE, WA/QLD.
‘We have a good laugh… but when we need to be serious, we are,’ Kerry, 34, tells New Idea of her kitchen chemistry with sister Kaylene, 29.
Both Australian Army servicewomen, Kaylene adds that they both have their specialties. ‘I am sweet and she is savoury so food-wise we work well together.’
MARK & LAUREN, VIC.
Professional poker player, Mark, 40, tells New Idea his game plan is ‘read the table, identify threats and if worse comes to worst turn on the charm offensive.’
His sister, Lauren, 35, admits she only learned to cook when she was 22. Will this be their downfall?
‘I was a very picky eater up until then,’ she explains. ‘I’m self-taught by reading and watching.’
