Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is based on an Archie’s Comic of the same name, much like 90’s sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
Although they both follow the life of 16 year old Sabrina Spellman, the two series are very different.
18-year-old actress Kiernan Shipka plays the role of Sabrina in the new show and lives with her two aunts (like Melissa Joan Hart did in Sabrina the Teenage Witch), but in the reboot, the teen lives in the family’s mortuary alongside her cousin Ambrose in the fictional suburb of Greendale (in the same fictional world as Riverdale).
Her aunts, Hilda and Zelda both work at the mortuary.
In the new series, Sabrina’s parents are deceased unlike the original show, where they would pop over occasionally for a visit.
Her high school boyfriend Harvey is also in the show, but we get to see a lot more of his home life.
Oh, and he works in the mines and has some supernatural experiences of his own!
In Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Sabrina attends two separate schools – one for humans and one for magic.
At her magical academy, we see the introduction of The Weird Sisters (the mean girls of the academy).
Sabrina’s cat Salem also makes a reappearance, but this time only she can understand what he says.
