Masterchef is keeping things fresh by filming part of the hit show in Japan.
The cooking show – now in its ninth season – is currently filming in Tokyo.
Judge Matt Preston said Japan was a no brainer because of its ‘amazing food, culture and the world’s freshest cuisine’.
‘Tokyo boasts 227 Michelin-starred restaurants. Around every corner and down every alley there is something exciting,’ he told News Corp.
Fellow chef George Calombaris said there is some amazing talent this season. .
‘They have really surprised us. Every contestant is serious about their cooking. There is no mucking around,’ he said.
Meanwhile judge and fellow celebrity chef Gary Mehigan added that contestants will be pushed way out of their comfort zones.
‘I’m excited because when you give them a whole different pantry of Japanese ingredients then all of a sudden you’ll get different dishes,’ he said.
