When Nicole Kidman divorced Tom Cruise in 2001 after nearly 11 years of marriage, their adopted children, Isabella, now 26, and Connor, 24, lived full-time with Cruise while Kidman – who wed Keith Urban in 2006, and later welcomed daughters Sunday, 10, and Faith, 8 – has worked to maintain a relationship with them from afar.
“They live with Tom; it was their choice,” Kidman told Hello! in 2010. “I’d love them to live with us, but what can you do?”
Son Connor, a former DJ, leads a relatively quiet life in Clearwater, Florida, where he “lives in his own home in a Scientology community,” an insider tells WHO. “His life is deep-sea fishing. He has a lot of friends and seems very well-liked.”
Now, he’s back in the headlines, with reports that he’s set to marry his girlfriend, Silvia, a fellow Scientologist originally from Italy, and it has been alleged his famous mother won’t be welcome at the wedding. “Tom is behind this and what he wants is as good as law,” a source reportedly told website RadarOnline.com.
“Tom made the call and Connor followed … [he] worships the ground his father walks on.” Isabella and Connor have famously remained deeply involved in Scientology alongside their dad, who is a high-ranking Scientologist. Bella recently wrote a testimonial about her training as an “auditor” (someone who helps other members through intense self-examination sessions with the help of an electronic device called the E-meter), describing it as “exactly what I needed” in a memo to the London branch of the organisation.
“We all need to do this,” she tells fellow church members in the memo first posted by Tony Ortega, a prominent critic of the church. “It’s hard work. It’s a lot of effort. It’s a few meltdowns and running to the bathroom to have a mini-episode, but it is worth everything because you will get through …
“Thank you to my dad for everything,” she continued, “I would have drowned in my own problems if you hadn’t been there.”
When Bella married Max Parker at the Dorchester hotel in London in September 2015, neither of her parents attended the wedding, although Cruise helped pay for the nuptials and the party that followed. Still, a Kidman source told WHO at the time that the actress “is very happy for Bella.”
Indeed, she voiced her support when Bella launched her own fashion label, BKC (Bella Kidman Cruise). “It’s very exciting,” Nicole told Entertainment Tonight in 2018. “I think it’s such a great way to express and Bella is a beautiful drawer as well – she’s always been able to draw.”
