In a rare Instagram post, Pete Davidson has opened up about the online hate he has received following his highly publicised split with fiancee Ariana Grande.
Copping abuse in public and online for nine months, the Saturday Night Live comedian revealed that he can no longer keep quiet about the matter, still struggling to understand why “the whole entire world” chooses to “trash” him.
“I’ve kept my mouth shut,” Davidson wrote. “Never mentioned any names, never said a word about anyone or anything. I’m trying to understand how when something happens to a guy the whole entire world just trashes him without any facts or frame of reference. Especially in today’s climate where everyone loves to be offended and upset it truly is mind-boggling.
The 25-year-old— who revealed in 2016 that he suffered with borderline personality disorder— said that being candid and honest about his struggles has instead opened the floodgates to more cruel taunts.
“I’ve spoken about BPD and being suicidal publicly only in the hopes that it will help bring awareness and help kids like myself who don’t want to be on this earth,” he said. “But no matter how hard the internet or anyone tries to make me kill myself. I won’t.”
Davidson ended the heartbreaking note by thanking the fans who have stuck by him and supported him.
