English-born Australian singer Peter Andre has opened up about his social anxiety.
During his appearance on This Morning, the 44-year-old revealed that he suffered with the condition while living in Australia.
“This is such an important conversation. I hear about it all the time and I thought I couldn’t beat it and it would get worse,” he confessed.
“But watching Loose Women made my anxiety clearer.”

“That’s what I’ve had all those years. I would, at the last minute, say ‘I cant go’. I would say anything to get out of [social situations] and it was social anxiety.”
The “Mystery Girl” singer went on to reveal that he felt like an “outcast” in his youth.
“It was a very rough time in Australia. Being Greek with a London accent and no ethnics. I was the outcast.”
He added: “Yes we were picked on; I had a knife held at me which started the fear of going to nightclubs and things like that where I didn’t know my surroundings.”
The TV personality described his condition as “crippling”.
“Yes, it was crippling, but what happens is – once you overcome that part of it – other things happen and you start getting fear of different things and you think ‘this is my life, I’ve got to accept it’. But that’s not true.”
He also discussed his thoughts on medicating medical illness.
“I agree [medication] can make you feel better, but I think you’re just wiping the problem under the carpet,’ he said. ‘You need to talk to somebody about it. Get to the bottom of the problem. I had therapy for years.”
