Speaking to Today Extra hosts Richard Wilkins and Brooke Boney on August 16, the US-based Pretty Little Liars star, who played Dani Sutherland on the show, admitted she struggled with the ‘idea of perfectionism’ after being taunted for being overweight as a child.

“For me, I hit 25 years old. I just wanted to stop feeling sick,” the brave mother-of-two said of her road to recovery.

“I just didn’t want to have a life any more of struggle. People have to go through a lot of therapy for that. For me I wanted to stop, I choose happiness. It was scary for me to actually say it.

“The minute I said it out loud I felt freedom. So it was a long time, it was through the Home and Away days. It isn’t easy being on television and trying to be perfect. I think we all struggle with that idea of perfectionism.”

Now happy and healthy and living with her husband Sean McEwen and children Phoenix, five, and nine-month-old Lennon in LA, the star first spoke about her dark days back in July.

Sharing a photo of herself in her from what appeared to be her late teens-to-early 20s, Tammin wrote an emotional post about her struggle with perfectionism.

“This was the height of my eating disorder,” she wrote. “That day I had eaten half a pack of rice thins and 5 cups of coffee. That’s what I had lived on for almost 6 months prior.”

“I remember how sad I felt,” she recalled. “Pictures lie, don’t they? I was dying to be perfect.”
