Bachelor Matt whisks Emma away for an awkward blindfolded date

How very fifty shades of them...

Oh come on, we’re all thinking it: Osher Gunsberg appears with a single date card and a blindfold, it feels like something kinky is about to happen.

And that kiiinda seemed like what Emma Roche was hoping for when the date and the eye mask were passed to her and she skipped off to meet Matt at a castle.

(Sort of fitting, given her mates Rachael Arahill and Mary Viturino were back at the mansion saying she’s a bit of a princess…)

But, look, we’ve got to be honest – when Matt spilled that they were going to feed each other, while blindfolded, we started feeling a bit triggered.

Before the date had even really started, the sexual innuendo was coming thick and strong from Emma.

“You’ve done this before!” she quipped as he tied the mask over her eyes.

(Cringe.)

If we’re telling the truth (and we know that’s been a major plot point this season) Matt looked kind of uncomfortable, so we were a little surprised when – after shovelling truffles into Emma’s mouth and being fed chocolate cake in return, Matt gushed about the connection he felt with the 32-year-old.

“I thought there would be a connection, but I didn’t know how strongly and quickly it would develop,” he gushes.

“And the fact that Emma is so open and honest about what she wants only makes me like her more.”

Back at the mansion, though, the other ladies were not convinced.

“Emma is like a princess,” sniped Mary. “‘I don’t do dirt. I don’t do the outdoors.’ But he’s a totally down-to-earth guy. So I don’t think that’s a match.”

Sadly for Brianna Ferrente, there was no match either – the sweet 24-year-old was the latest to leave the Bachie mansion, after a lack of direction about her future took her out of the running.

I think we are in a kind of different points in life… I have a harder time, I guess, seeing a future for us,” said Matt, explaining his choice to farewell the clerical officer from Western Australia.

“I do need to start making some really hard decisions about who I see a future with.”
