Aaand that’s a Bachelor goodbye to Helena Sauzier

Matt Agnew's picked his final two!

After last week’s drama at the hometowns (not to mention their super-uncomfortable final date) it was hardly a surprise that Matt Agnew farewelled Helena Sauzier in part one of the Bachelor finale tonight.

“I’m obviously devastated, but I’m also just in a place where I’m understanding of his decision. I feel like I did and said enough. Yeah, I was myself. I’m not one to be overly gushy and overly romantic, so I was myself at all times and I don’t regret anything,” she revealed tearlessly after failing to receive a rose.

“Saying goodbye to Helena was the right thing,” said Matt as he watched her limo pull away.

“I want someone who is certain they want me as I am and someone who is willing to work for a relationship and not run away when things get tough. I had to follow my own heart.”

The pair’s final date gave some pretty massive indicators that Helena wasn’t going to make it to top two.

“As much as I’m enjoying myself with Helena, there is the elephant in the room of her home town that we really need to address,” the astrophysicist explained in a piece to camera.

“I’d just love to know where her head’s at now so we can just move on.”

Unfortunately, Helena thought they already had moved on.

“I think I’m really excited to just have fun with Matt,” she said before the date.

We don’t have to bang on about what happened at home towns. We’ve kind of put it to bed.”

Oh dear… what is it they say about not counting chickens etc etc?

So, recap on hometowns: Helena ended things with Matt. And then agreed to have another crack. And then said (to camera) that she still wasn’t sure. And we were all like, what the F is going on, girl?

(Matt was, too.)

Fast-forward to tonight…

At that point I was literally like, “If Matt is kind of like, ‘OK… That’s fine, thank you for your time,’ then I know there was never anything there. But I was kind of like, if he does come back then I know there’s something that I’m worth fighting for, essentially.”

And Matt wasn’t into it.

“I actually think that’s shit. That, essentially, Helena was testing me. I think it’s just not a good way to start a relationship and it’s certainly not a way that a successful relationship would start… I kind of understand that position but I also think that’s not the healthiest kind of point of view to take.”

And so it was goodbye Helena, leaving Abbie Chatfield and Chelsie McLeod as the last two ladies standing!

For weeks now, fans have been convinced that Chelsie is our winner – and a recent (very compelling) theory apparently proves this is the case!

A photo collage being circulated on Facebook shows a mashup of “final three” promo pics from previous seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. In every single photo, the contestant who eventually ends up winning is always (like, ALWAYS) standing in the middle.

However, the sexual chemistry between Abbie and Matt can’t be denied – and while the show has put major emphasis on the pair’s sexual chemistry alone, Abbie insists that she and Matt “spend more time laughing than we do pashing”, suggesting there’s a major emotional connection there, too.

And it looks like a sneaky little spoiler may’ve been let slip on The Bachelor’s Instagram, with Abbie hinting that she’s the ultimate winner of love/the game.

Each of the final three girls shared a ‘special message’ ahead of the finale, and while Helena and Chelsie’s didn’t give much away, Abbie dropped a few Easter eggs suggesting she’s the last woman standing.

The one thing we know for sure is this: in 24 hours, we’ll know who stole Matt Agnew’s heart!
