Matt and Olivia, who first met on the 2023 season of Farmer Wants A Wife Australia, are one of the many heartfelt success stories from the popular dating show.
After first crossing paths over two years ago, the couple’s romance has continued to blossom, and in August 2024, Matt and Olivia announced that they had welcomed their first child.
The pair kept the news of Olivia’s pregnancy tightly under wraps, taking the opportunity in their Instagram announcement to thank close friends and family for helping keep the news private.
“286 days of carrying you, 8 hours of labour without pain relief, and what has felt like a lifetime of waiting…our little bubba entered our little family happy and healthy on Thursday,” the couple wrote on Instagram when sharing their baby news.
“Thank you to our close friends/family/baggy clothes (haha) for helping us to enjoy this wonderful experience privately and with so much unconditional support. We will not be active on social media for a little while and will be taking our own time to settle into parenthood. We are so very happy and look forward to sharing more when we are ready.”

While the beginning of their journey was documented by cameras on Farmer Wants a Wife, fans have had to look to social media for updates on their life after the show.
Having kept their baby news a secret from the public until after the birth, the couple shared some insight into their pregnancy journey with our sister site Woman’s Day – revealing they had welcomed their son Henry on August 15, 2024.
“We didn’t know how quickly we’d fall pregnant,” Olivia told the publication, adding, “but we’re really happy with how it all turned out.”
“We’re navigating parenthood, but we’ve got each other,” Olivia continued. “We have a laugh because we always run into these fun little challenges – like telly, and even moving in together – but just like everything else, we’ve taken this head-on.”
The pair also revealed that their FWAW family are supporting them in their latest chapter, with Claire Hockings (who appeared on the 2023 season and welcomed a son with Farmer Brad [Jones]) sharing parenting advice.
Admitting their experience with reality television was difficult, Matt added it was worth it in the end, telling Woman’s Day he was “so grateful to have found Livvy and to have our happy little family now,” revealing a wedding was “absolutely” on the cards next.
News of the couple’s growing family followed shortly after Matt and Olivia announced that they had purchased their first home together, with Olivia sharing a snap outside their new abode with the caption, “Soooo we did a thingggg…!”
Are Farmer Matt and Olivia engaged?
In 2023, the couple sparked engagement rumours after Olivia was spotted on the farmer’s Instagram wearing a ring on her left hand.
Whilst eagle-eyed fans jumped to the conclusion that the pair are engaged, neither Matt nor Olivia made any comments on the speculation.
The couple delighted fans in late 2023 when they took to Instagram to mark their first anniversary.
“One year ago, I was giggling with my friends about potentially going on TV to hopefully meet my life human. I thank the stars every day for letting us find each other (even if it was via the most chaotic of ways). I love how devoted you are, I love how patient you are… I just love you,” Olivia wrote on Instagram at the time.
Matt kept his reply short and sweet, replying with a simple “I love you.”
As the couple’s relationship was revealed in the 2023 season finale, Matt and Olivia expressed their excitement at finally being able to express their love in public.
“[It’s] very exciting – we don’t have to wear moustaches all the time (now),” Olivia previously told 7 News.
“The locals have been really good at keeping the news quiet… They have held onto it tightly, and they just gossip amongst themselves,” added Matt.
