In the 2024 season of Farmer Wants a Wife Australia, audiences were introduced to Farmer Dustin, a third-generation farmer with a deep sense of duty to carry on his family’s legacy. Known for his heart of gold and cheeky demeanour, Dustin brought a playful spirit and a knack for good-natured banter to the table.
Describing himself as a “girlfriend guy,” Dustin joined the show to find a partner who is happy, fun-loving, and has a good sense of humour. Family holds immense importance to him, so compatibility with his tight-knit clan is a must.
After weeks of solo dates, group dates, eliminations and more, Dustin found what he was looking for in Sophie, whom he had an “immediate connection with.”
In the season’s final episodes the Farmer acknowledged he “felt like they had known each other forever” and declared his love for Sophie.
“As soon as I saw you, I thought, you’re absolutely gorgeous. I really wanted you to be the first one to come home and be on the farm and see all the special places that mean so much to me.”
“One thing you’ve taught me is to open up and be vulnerable,” he admitted. “It’s definitely made me into a better person,”
“I’m in love with that small-town girl from Rand and I can’t wait to start our life back on the land,” he continued.
“I am falling in love with you and it’s nice to hear you want to give us a chance and see what the future holds,” Sophie replied.
Are Farmer Dustin and Sophie still together?
While the couple themselves refrained from explicitly confirming their relationship throughout the season – fans were hopeful after some telling comments made to our sister site, New Idea.
During New Idea’s interview with Farmer Dustin, he hinted that he found lasting love, explaining that although his family were hesitant about the show at first, “now after this all happened, they’re all pretty happy”.
The reunion episode finally gave fans the answers they were waiting on with Farmer Dustin confirming he and Sophie were still together.
“It’s been great,” Farmer told Sam Armytage. Although there have been a few hiccups with living arrangements on the farm, the couple are looking forward to their future together, sharing that Farmer Dustin was fixing up his house so Sophie could move in.
The couple also admitted they had already agreed on how many children they want! Agreeing that they want three kids in the future.
“We’re very happy, still in love and excited to see what the future holds,” Sophie added during the sweet episode.
Shortly after the reunion aired, the couple spoke with our sister site Woman’s Day, confirming they were still together.
“We’ve just slotted back into normal life. It’s been so lovely to witness how our relationship is outside of the show,” Dustin told the publication.
“I haven’t been able to do much on the farm yet as I’m still working full-time but I’m excited to when I move,” Sophie revealed. “I already have my year planned out. I’ll move after the netball season and then we’ll see if I can hack it out here if we don’t kill each other,” she explained, before cheekily adding, “And if that goes well there will be a diamond ring!”
“Oh, will there?” Dustin replied playfully before the pair announced the one future plan they already agree on – children. “We both want kids – and sooner, rather than later!”
