The celebrity chef shed a few tears as he took in the news that he had won, and raised funds and awareness for his charity, R U OK?, a suicide prevention organisation.
“Thank you to R U OK? forraising awareness to stop suicide inAustralia,” he said as he prepared to put on his crown.
“We need to get away fromthe stigma. We have to stop theAustralians doing suicide every day.”
“We suffer anepidemic of eight Australians takingtheir lives a week with suicide andlosing the battle with mentalhealth,” he said, speaking about why he chose R U OK? to support during his time in the jungle.
“I’mgrateful that, through the show, wesaw people opening their feelings… It’s OK to not be OKand asking for help and listening topeople when they have a toughmoment could save a life at theright time.”
