After a couple of weeks of solid (at times gag-inducing) entertainment, we had to say TTFN to one campmate tonight on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.

The campmates have all become very close during their time in the jungle, so it was no surprise there were some tears as the troupe farewelled one of their own on Thursday night.

Faces were glum all round as hosts Dr Chris Brown and Julia Morris headed to camp to reveal the name of the first celeb to leave this year’s show.

“For one of you, your time in the jungle is up,” shared Chris.

“Unfortunately, your dream of ruling the jungle as a king or queen has been dashed,” added Julia.

“It’s down to Dilruk [Jayasinha], Dale [Thomas] and Erin [Barnett],” the hosts shared, holding everyone in suspense.

“The celebrity who must immediately depart the jungle is… It’s Dilruk.”

His fellow campmates were all saddened to see the funnyman leave, giving hugs and pats on the back all round.

“Dilruk, you know what we are grateful for? We are grateful for having you,” shared Rhonda Burchmore as they said their goodbyes.

Heading over the bridge out of camp and into the waiting arms of Julia, Dr Chris aaaand a deliciously fruity-looking drink in a martini glass, Dil was all smiles.

I had an absolute blast, it was such a trip,” he told the hosts.

“Just an unbelievable experience.”

Prompted to share his favourite bit, Dil didn’t miss a beat:

“The people, without a doubt. Getting to meet all these characters, from around the world, that just blew my mind with how funny and weird, but also just so lovely.”

So, is he going to be recommending this particular adventure on TripAdvisor?

“It’s definitely not for everyone,” he said.

“It really tests [you]. For me, particularly, every aspect of it was scary. Meeting new people, I’ve never camped, I haven’t cooked in two years… I’ve never used a flint before, and all those creepy crawlies?! I get manicures and pedicures once a week! This is out of my comfort zone.”

Okay, so far not a five-star review… but he wasn’t done.

“I think it is such a rewarding experience to be able to push through the barriers of your comfort zone and then you come away with, you know, learning new things about yourself. That alone is worth it.”

We’ll miss you, Dil!
