With the fourth series of Love Island Australia (renamed ‘Straya last year) currently underway, we’re diving back into the past three seasons.
While a few couples had lasting relationships outside the villa, did any go the distance?
Here, we’re looking back at all the couples who became known and loved across the country to see just how long their showmances lasted.
Josh Moss and Amelia Marni
Josh and Amelia first met on Season 1 of Love Island Australia back in 2018, after hitting it off with an instant connection.
After placing third in the series, the couple went from strength to strength in their relationship once they left the show hand-in-hand.
Just last year in July, the two officially moved in together after almost three years of dating.
Sadly in May 2022 the pair announced they’d broken up after four years together.
Taking to Instagram, Amelia explained that their break-up may come as a shock to some because “I think we portrayed a happy healthy relationship”.
“And it was that for most of the part, but there was also a lot of challenging moments we didn’t share,” she said.
“No relationship is perfect but there are some parts you have to see eye-to-eye. Josh and I are on incredible terms (for a breakup) and we want the happiest life for one another.”
Josh also shared his thoughts on the breakup over on his social media, saying it was one of “the hardest and most heart-breaking decisions we have ever had to make.”
Grant Crapp and Tayla Damir
In one of the most scandalous breakups to rock the first season of Love Island, Grant Crapp won the show alongside Tayla Damir before dumping her to return to his girlfriend outside the show, Lucy Cartwright.
Lucy had run Grant’s business while he was on the show promoting himself.
“He denied it when we were in the house and I just had this gut feeling to follow through with it. Once I was able to access media and read the articles, I told Grant he needed to own up,” Tayla said of their split.
“I finally got the answer that was the truth: he was on there to promote himself and he did have a girlfriend who was running his business while he was inside the Villa.”
Tayla dumped Grant, and he was back with Lucy within days.
Grant and Lucy now have a daughter together, and Tayla is married to AFL player Nathan Broad.
Eden Dally and Erin Barnett
This seemingly loved-up couple, who came in second place on season one, were determined to make it work in the outside world.
However, they split shortly after the finale, alerting fans to their split via Instagram.
“We wanted to share with you that after much deliberation, we have quietly parted ways,” they said in a joint statement.
“We can’t thank each and every one of you enough, for the support and love you have shown us, but we have to be honest within ourselves as we realise that our forever as a couple, is no longer,” it read.
Eden is now in a relationship with Married at First Sight star Cyrell Jiminez-Paule, and they share a son together, Boston.
Erin is in a long-term relationship with boyfriend Mick Russell.
Josh Packham and Anna McEvoy
Season two winners Josh Packham and Anna McEvoy had a good run, lasting in a relationship together for 12 months after the series aired.
They moved in together during the pandemic, but lockdowns in Melbourne put a strain on their relationship, and they split in November 2020.
While Josh was recently starring on The Block with his twin brother and fellow Love Island alum, Luke, Anna recently announced her engagement to Michael Staples.
Jessie Wynter and Todd Elton
The fourth-place pair didn’t make it much further past the airing of their season’s finale, and took to Instagram to announce their split.
“This post isn’t easy to write and isn’t something I want to be confirming but sadly, yes the relationship between Todd and I is over,” Jessie wrote.
“I’ve loved every minute spent with Todd from the moment he walked into that villa and absolutely adore him but I guess some things just aren’t meant to be.
“Thank you so much to those who have supported us over the past few months, it honestly means the world to me.”
It now seems the pair are both living it up and enjoying the single life.
And for the couples of season three? Unfortunately, love wasn’t in the air, with all the pairings splitting in the months following the show. Hopefully, season four brings more good luck!
