It’s been a bumpy ride for Melbourne bride Sandy Jawanda, 37, who left the experiment recently after calling time on her marriage to Dan Hunjas, 42.
In an exclusive chat with WHO, Jawanda reveals she didn’t have “much left in the tank” at the end of her time on the show.

What did you learn about yourself in the experiment?
To stand up for myself. Sometimes you want something to work so bad, you let someone treat you in a way that doesn’t feel good. Going forward in relationships, my expectations are going to be high.
When was the first red flag raised for you about Dan?
On our honeymoon. I didn’t feel like he took into account how I was feeling.
Your husband was accused of taking other women’s phone numbers on a night out. How did you feel about that?
When you have a conversation with Dan, and he doesn’t want to own something, he’s very good at deflecting and making it about you. I could only work with what I had in front of me. It was disappointing.

To viewers, you looked like you were getting along well initially.
I’m an affectionate person, but in a private space. Behind closed doors there was definitely more intimacy, that’s why I was so shocked when he said he wasn’t sexually attracted to me.
But then you had sex?
I was fragile. I was upset. It happened. And at the time, I felt good about it. He seemed to feel good about it as well.
Your parents weren’t happy about you appearing on MAFS. How are things between you now?
If I’m completely honest, I was broken when I left. My parents saw that. They just welcomed me home with open arms. I’m blessed I have such a loving family. I don’t want them to watch the show though.
Would you do anything differently?
I did reflect on that. When I look back at it, I don’t think Dan ever really wanted it to work.
Do you still believe in love?
Yes. I’m waiting for someone who gives me the respect and kindness I deserve.
