Another year, another season of Married At First Sight Australia.
As audiences were introduced to new couples they had two questions: Which couples are still together and which contestants are still friends?
Why? Because the show may not be too successful in the love department – but it does have a history of some very strong friendships and feuds.
Although this season served up the drama, the friendships and feuds were vastly different to previous years.
The drama has been largely focused on the relationships between husbands and wives – not the friends.
No smashing glasses, nasty Instagram comments or friendship breakdowns here (well, yet). Instead, season 10 of the Aussie show has offered fans an insight into the power of friendships.
During the season
During the girl’s and boy’s night’s out this season, old contestants who had already left the show were invited back for one evening.
Whilst fans expected the drama; the evening played out quite differently.
The boys had their fair share of tension, with Adam and Harrison clashing. But the girls? They were supportive and uplifting for the most part.
Apart from Bronte’s early exit, the girl’s night went off without a hitch. Even when Claire and Janelle ran into each other, audiences got an emotional apology and hug instead of the usual (and predicted) “catfight” other seasons have offered.
“Can I just say, isn’t this f*****g beautiful,” Claire told the group of girls at dinner. “This unity among women, supporting each other, backing each other…we said it at the Hens. No matter what challenges we face, we’ve overcome them.”
“We had a good girls’ night,” she continued. “It was a great night, it was so nice to have a room full of amazing, confident, strong, beautiful women, giving amazing advice.”
“I’m feeling really proud to know these women.”
But will these friendships last? We hope so! Since the show finished airing, it looks like the girls are still keeping close.
Which MAFS contestants are still friends?
Although the cast of Married At First Sight Season Ten remain friendly for the most part during filming, things changed after the season aired!
It’s clear that this season truly made some legitimate friendships. As the cast slowly get back into the swing of everyday life, they have constantly shared updates with fans about all the mini-reunions and friendships that have survived the experiment.
Evelyn and Evelyn have been hanging out, as have Bronte and Lyndal. Shannon and Dan have been spotted hanging out together, as have Dan, Adam and Tayla. Ollie and Rupert have hung out and even Jesse admitted that he has seen Adam in the months after the show. Let’s just hope these cute friendships last a little longer than the romance this year!
In July, Bronte took to TikTok to clear the air on any jealousy rumours between the cast, confirming that there were no bad feelings between cast members.
“I couldn’t give a f**k,” she said in response to rumours the MAFS cast were jealous of Evelyn’s career post-show. “Evelyn is gorgeous, she is smart, she is driven.”
“Evelyn and I obviously weren’t very close on the show…if I’m honest I don’t really know her at all, but to hear that the cast is mad that she’s succeeding…on behalf of the cast who are actually thriving in their own way – we’re happy for her.”
Which Married At First Sight contestants are not friends?
Although the cast of MAFS this year were by far some of the friendliest – that’s not to say they are all on great terms!
Melinda recently spoke to Heat, sharing that she is not in touch with Claire. “I still don’t speak to Claire [Nomarhas] because of you know, a lot of things that actually happened,” she explained, admitting that “there’s quite a divide still” between the two.
Adding that not all the drama was broadcast on the show, she revealed that the cheating allegations “created a huge divide, especially with the girls.”
“It created a huge divide with the whole group, but they didn’t show any of that.”
Alyssa has also taken to social media to reveal she isn’t friends with MAFS partner Duncan, or with Evelyn since they began dating, explaining that she didn’t appreciate the lack of warning before their relationship debut.
“I don’t expect any ex of mine to tell me they are moving on with someone else. That would be absurd. But if it’s with someone in our friend group, who we went through a life-altering experiment with, and who was supposedly ‘rooting for us,’ and they had enough ‘respect’ for Rupes to tell him. Doesn’t make sense to me.”
