When book-to-screen adaption Red, White & Royal Blue hit streaming services last year, it was a massive hit.

Sure adaptions can be tricky, but the Prime Video film successfully captured the epic enemies-to-lovers story fans initially fell for and stellar performances from Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar saw the Rom Com become an instant hit.

While fans may have thought that was the end of Prince Henry and Alex’s love story, the streaming giant has now confirmed a sequel is in the works.

Will there be a sequel to Red, White & Royal Blue?

In May 2024 Amazon MGM Studios confirmed that the highly anticipated sequel to Red, White & Royal Blue was in development, with Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez reprising their roles as Prince Henry and Alex Claremont-Diaz.

Matthew López will return to write the script—this time alongside Red, White & Royal Blue author, Casey McQuiston.

At this stage plot details for the sequel and premiere dates are being kept under wraps – but we’ll keep you updated when we learn more!

What is Red, White & Royal Blue about?

The first movie, was an andaption of the 2019 novel of the same name by Casey McQuiston and follows Alex Claremont-Diaz (portrayed by Taylor Zakhar Perez), the son of the President of the United States (played by Uma Thurman), and Britain’s Prince Henry (played by Nicholas Galitzine).

Although the two may share many similarities: remarkable good looks, undeniable charisma, and global popularity, they harbour a mutual disdain for each other. Despite living on different continents, their ongoing feud takes an unexpected turn when a disastrous and highly publicised altercation at a royal event becomes fodder for tabloids, risking strained U.S./British relations at a critical moment. In an effort to mitigate the damage, their families and advisors pressure the two rivals into a contrived “truce.”

As Alex and Henry reluctantly embrace this staged ceasefire, their icy relationship begins to thaw unexpectedly, gradually evolving into a tentative friendship. The friction that once defined their dynamic unexpectedly ignites something deeper than they ever imagined.
