Oscar and Golden Globe winner Renee Zellweger took a break from acting in 2010—and now, like just her British movie alter ego Bridget Jones, she’s making a comeback.

Zellweger, 47, spoke to British Vogue about her hiatus, saying the price of fame and constant scrutiny became too much after working constantly since 1992. “I got sick of the sound of my own voice,:” said the Texan star. “It was time to go away and grow up a bit.”

While her break from acting did offer some anonymity, the star emerged into the spotlight briefly in 2014 to intense scrutiny over her changing face.

Speaking to WHO at the time, Zellweger said, “I’m glad folks think I look different! I’m living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I’m thrilled that perhaps it shows.”

Her new and different life away from Hollywood did have some drawbacks,  she told Vogue: “As a creative person, saying no to that wonderful once-in-a-lifetime project is hard. But I was fatigued and wasn’t taking the time I needed to recover between projects, and it caught up with me.”

In addition to playing titular character Bridget Jones in Bridget Jones’s Baby with Patrick Dempsey and Colin Firth, Zellweger will also appear in The Whole Truth and Same Kind of Different As Me.

“You cannot be a good storyteller if you don’t have life experiences,” Zellweger told the fashion magazine. “And you can’t relate to people.”
