Riley Hemson has built an incredible social media empire, inspiring thousands with her candid takes on fitness, fashion, and self-love.
From her viral running diaries on TikTok to the launch of her inclusive fashion label, Remmie by Riley, Riley has built a brand that celebrates confidence, self-expression, and style on her own terms. And with the Formula 1 weekend kicking off, we caught up with Riley to chat about her beauty must-haves, stylish-yet-comfy event outfits, and what she’d pack for a day at the races.
With over eight years in the game, Riley’s journey as a content creator started back in 2016. “I actually started my Instagram account in 2016 to document my weight loss journey at the time, which turned into a self-acceptance journey! Crazy to think I’ve been doing this for that long now. Time flies when you’re having fun as they say!” she shares.
Now, her audience follows along for everything from body-positive fashion to her ever-growing love for running. And while she once loathed hitting the pavement, her running diaries have become a fan-favorite.
“I’ve always absolutely hated running. But equally wanted to be good at it. It was my Roman Empire essentially,” she explains. “One day I just decided I was going to forget everything I thought I knew about running and start from scratch—with my lovely fiancé Vit by my side. I thought I would document my journey because I hadn’t seen anyone who looked like me posting running content. So I thought surely there are other people out there who would relate!”
Through her content, Riley has built a community that celebrates confidence and self-expression—two things that extend beyond just fitness. Whether it’s embracing her personal style or finding clothes that make her feel good, she’s always been passionate about fashion that fits real bodies. But for a long time, options were limited.
What started as a gap in the market quickly turned into Riley’s own brand, Remmie by Riley. “I spent my life not having access to clothing in my size that looked the same as all my friends. Just because I’m bigger doesn’t mean I want frills and floral prints everywhere!! So Remmie was born, she explains.
While it began as activewear, Remmie has since expanded into swimwear, comfy loungewear, and even eyewear—because no outfit is complete without the perfect pair of sunnies.
We caught up with Riley on the cusp of the Australian Grand Prix as she was getting ready for Glamour on the Grid, and whether she’s trackside or just planning a day out, she knows how to pack smart. “My handbag non-negotiables: A charging pack, my Remmie eyewear, lip liner, a mini fragrance, and my vlog camera.”
And when it comes to makeup that lasts through heat, Riley keeps it simple. “Less is more on a hot day! I set everything with a loose powder—I’ve been using an old and faithful Laura Mercier. And absolutely have to lock it all in with the L’Oréal Infallible Setting Spray.”
Dressing for a long day at the F1 (or any event, really) is all about balancing comfort and style. Riley’s must-haves? “Eyewear of course! Comfortable footwear is also key—a ballet flat has my heart at the moment—chic but comfy.”
