And Andrew Mountbatten Windsor has some explaining to do.

Just as it was announced that the formal legal process to remove his titles had been completed on November 6, there were more consequences to face for Andrew.

Democrats in the US Congress have asked Andrew to answer questions as part of its investigation into paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Members of the House Oversight Committee sent a letter addressed to Royal Lodge.

The committee wants question Andrew for information related to Epstein’s network and associates based on the pair’s “longstanding” friendship.

They do not have the power to force Andrew from Britain to the United States.

Following years of scandal over his links to Epstein, Andrew was recently stripped of all of his titles and evicted from his home at Royal Lodge.

“The king has been pleased by letters patent under the great seal of the realm dated 3 November 2025 to declare that Andrew Mountbatten Windsor shall no longer be entitled to hold and enjoy the style, title or attribute of ‘royal highness’ and the titular dignity of ‘prince’”, read an announcement in the Gazette, the UK’s official public record, on November 6.

The drastic move came Andrew had already voluntarily announced he was relinquishing his Duke of York title.

He also handed back his honours, including his membership of the Order of the Garter, which is the country’s most ancient order of chivalry.

“In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family,” Andrew said in a statement released by the palace.

“I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.

“With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”

Sarah Beatrice and Eugenie
Beatrice and Eugenie will keep their princess titles while their mother will also lose her Duchess of York title, becoming Sarah Ferguson.

But these actions turned out to be too little, too late, for the public who were outraged that the son of the late Elizabeth II, Andrew will retain his princely title, which was conferred on him at birth, and that he would continue living rent free.

The British Times reported that he had not paid rent on his 30-room mansion for two decades, but had instead funded around $15 million in renovations.

His daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, remain “wholly unaffected” and keep their titles.

The historic action was taken after a few scandal-filled weeks after the Daily Mail shared emails between Andrew and convicted sex abuser Jeffrey Epstein that show they were in contact for much longer than he has previously admitted to.

“It would seem we are in this together and will have to rise above it,” Andrew is alleged to have written after a photo of him with his arm around a teenage Virginia Giuffre was first published in 2011.

“Otherwise keep in close touch and we’ll play some more soon!!!!”

The release of Virginia Giuffre’s memoir, which came out posthumously following her suicide in April 2025, is also believed to have put pressure on the palace.

In the book, she writes in detail about her sexual abuse at the hands of convicted offender Epstein and when she was allegedly trafficked to Andrew. Andrew denies claims of wrongdoing.
