He was sent packing in a shock double elimination on Thursday night’s episode of The Bachelorette, but Sam Vescio insists there’s no bad blood between him and Becky Miles.

Speaking with WHO, the 35-year-old said that while he was disappointed that he didn’t score more one-on-one time with the blonde beauty, it simply wasn’t meant to be.

“When I didn’t get the last single date, I sort of took that as a sign that I wasn’t going to get a rose at that rose ceremony,” he admitted. “I did want to, you know, have a bit of a chat with Becky about it, but we kind of got a chance to do that at the dinner table at during the ‘last supper’.”

In a nod to his traditional Italian upbringing, it was important to Sam to solidify his relationship with Becky if he were to make it to hometown week.

“I just needed more time with Becky to see where that connection was. And you know, it would have been nice to have a full single date before the family visits, just to make sure that we were on the same page as to what we wanted and to be sure that things were right before I introduced her to my family,” the NSW-based lawyer shared.

“There was a real warmth that I felt from Becky. She’s a beautiful girl inside and out and we had fun making the pasta and backstage after the ventriloquist act, which was really nice. But I think for us to get to the next level – being ready to take her home to meet my family and friends – it would’ve been nice to have a single date.”

When asked what his family thought of Sam signing up for a dating show, he said they were “very supportive” and just wanted him to find happiness – especially off the back of a tough few years.

“They know, I’m always one to sort of step out of my comfort zone. I’d been living overseas for five years and then went I came back I went through a bit of family stuff with losing my dad and my brother,” he said.

“Now, our family believes that it’s all about living life to the fullest and taking the opportunities we’re given because life is short. And ultimately they wanted me to take advantage of what was an amazing opportunity to potentially find love on national television.”

And while it’s unfortunate things with Becky didn’t work, he has no regrets about the time they spent together.

“I was always a hundred per cent true to who I am and my values and I was vulnerable. I was honest to the whole process,” he shares.

“The whole experience of it has really shown me to let my walls down. In the past, I’ve probably been more wary, but through this experience, I’ve realised that I need to be more open to actually falling in love.”
