Matt Agnew and Chelsie McLeod might’ve shocked Australia when they announced their split, but Sam Wood says he knew the reality TV couple wouldn’t stand the test of time.

“I don’t think it’s necessarily a surprise that most of these relationships don’t work,” he told Now To Love, referring to previous Bachelor and Bachelorette romances that didn’t last outside of the mansion.
He continued saying that while he has “no idea what really happened” between Matt and Chelsie, he’s eternally grateful for the series that matched him with the love of his life, Snezana.
“We got on brilliantly from pretty much the second we met each other and the more time we spend with each other, the stronger that gets,” said Sam who’s the stepfather to Evie and biological father to Willow and Charlie.
Sam’s comments come days after an insider claimed Matt’s trip to Scotland— which came days after filming the final wrapped— was the beginning of the end for the couple.
“The moment the show ended and they could finally be a proper couple and go out in public together, Matt basically just disappeared,” an insider close to the former couple told Daily Mail Australia, adding Chelsie couldn’t understand why he needed to leave the country so soon after they were officially an item.
According to the source, Matt skipped town because he “suddenly lost interest and changed his mind” about wanting to be with Chelsie— who didn’t see their separation coming.
“Things just fizzled out quickly,” the insider added.
Rumours are also swirling that Matt was “contractually obliged” to pick Chelsie during the final rose ceremony, hence why they announced their split so soon after the show played out on our screens.
According to the clued-up spy, Matt knew from the get-go that he didn’t intend to choose any of the women vying for his heart, however, a strict clause in his Network 10 contract prevented him from pulling a Honey Badger.
“He wanted to choose no-one, but obviously it was in his contract that he had to choose someone, so producers pushed him to pick Chelsie because she was the safe bet. If it happened two years in a row, the whole franchise would be done,” the spy told the outlet.
While Chelsie is yet to comment on whether these rumours are true, she unexpectedly opened up about the demise of their relationship last week, admitting she’s still heartbroken.
“It’s definitely been rough,” a tearful Chelsie told her Instagram followers during an Instagram Q&A last night. “I do not deal with heartbreak well and yeah, my heart is broken. This sucks.”
As for why Matt decided to call time on their romance just six months after filming wrapped, Chelsie said she plans to keep the details private.
In spite of this, she hinted their love for one another eventually fizzled out, with the transition into the real world taking a toll on their relationship. Yep, exactly what the first source said!
“A lot of you want to know what happened between Matt and I. I am going to respect his privacy and not go into details,” the chemical engineer continued. “It’s a hard situation and it takes two strong people with a strong connection to get through stages from filming to the end.”
