After meeting his perfect match on the third season of The Bachelor, Sam Wood has some sage words of advice for Matt Agnew. In an open letter penned to the astrophysicist, 32, the personal trainer touches on his tumultuous experience along with the lessons he learned during and after the show. But perhaps the most poignant piece of advice he gives to Matt is to trust himself and his gut in what quickly becomes an “isolated” situation.

“Being on a date nearly every day with a different woman for months is not your typical dating experience. There’s extra pressure than there would be in the real world, so it’s crucial to trust yourself and back yourself no matter what,” said Sam, whose heartfelt note was published by The Daily Telegraph

The 49-year-old— who’s now married to the winner of his season, Snezana— also touched on the challenges he’ll no doubt face, revealing that while “it’s impossible to prepare for the experience”, Matt needs to be open and honest with himself, and the ladies vying for his heart.

“Relationships are fast-tracked and the amount of deep conversations you’re having with people after knowing them for a few hours is so sped up. Something you might not talk about until around the one-year mark in normal time is suddenly being discussed by the third week in the show. It’s a bit of a strange sensation, but you have to do it. The clock is ticking.”

Sam, now a proud dad to two beautiful girls, also advised Matt to trust his gut and eliminate those who are more interested in drama than winning his heart— *cough* Monique Morley *cough*!

“If you suspect people creating drama or are there for the wrong reasons, you have to act on it.”

Ahead of this season’s premiere, Sam chatted to WHO exclusively about Dr Angew, revealing he’d briefly met the 32-year-and loves him as much as Australia does now!

“I actually met Matt and he’s the best,” said Sam, who rose to fame in 2015 when he was announced as season three’s Bachelor. “Such a humble, smart, genuine guy.”

But will Dr Agnew find love with one of the many women vying for his heart? The former reality TV star seems to think so.

“I have a feeling he’s going to be just fine and hope it works out as well as it worked out for us,” Sam said.

With a newborn, a one-year-old, and a 14-year-old to look after, Sam said that while his family is always on the go, he and Snez have been tuning in and cheering Matt on from the sideline.

“We will be keeping an eye on it with our beautiful crazy family, that’s for sure,” he told WHO at the time.
