While her divorce from Keith Urban has made headlines as of late, Nicole Kidman is getting back to work. The A-lister stars as renowned forensic pathologist Dr. Kay Scarpetta in new TV drama Scarpetta, which is based on Patricia Cornwell’s best-selling novels.
It’s currently one of the top shows streaming on Prime Video and it’s easy to see why.
What is Scarpetta about?
In the show, Dr Scarpetta has returned to her position as Virginia’s Chief Medical Examiner investigating a murder that harkens back to her first big case decades ago in the 90s.
Taking to Instagram, Nicole thanked the author of the original series sharing pictures with the caption, “Thank you, Patricia Cornwell for choosing me to play your Dr. Kay Scarpetta … I love her – hope you all do too.”
Patricia sweetly replied, “And Scarpetta loves you back.”

Who has been cast in Scarpetta?
Nicole Kidman isn’t the only big name in the cast.
The series also stars Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis as Kay’s older sister Dorothy Scarpetta, Bobby Cannavale as former detective Pete Marino, Ariana Debose as Lucy Farinelli-Watson, Dorothy’s daughter, and fellow Aussie Simon Baker as FBI profiler Benton Wesley.
Nicole and Jamie, along with Patricia Cornwell, also serve as producers on the show.
