In an honest and raw interview with KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show the convicted drug trafficker said her arduous battle with depression was not only debilitating but made her feel “like a zombie”.

“My sister used to have to sleep with me in prison. I was catatonic to the point where we had a psychiatrist come over from Australia. He said he had never experienced looking at someone in such a state. He didn’t even know if I could come out of it,” she began.

“I couldn’t think, I couldn’t even move. People would have to feed me. I couldn’t swallow or drink and they had to put water down my throat. I was a zombie.

The 42-year-old said she began to spiral out of control after her father died and took a turn for the worse when her final appeal was rejected and her mother’s partner Greg died days later.

“I just couldn’t cope. There were other things going on as well and I just became a complete fruitloop. I was listening to the birds chirping and they were telling me to stop speaking,” she said, referring to her hallucinations. “I thought my doctor was Mr Squiggle, I thought that’s who he was. I wasn’t allowed to speak.”

“Everyone was characters,” her sister Mercedes added. “They found her on the roof one day looking for the ducks.”

Since being released from jail— after being charged with smuggling 4.2 kilograms of cannabis into Indonesia—the Queenslander admitted she’s finally getting her life back on track. And, despite doing the press rounds this morning to promote her new book, says she’s is hoping to stay out of the public eye.

“I want to be happy and I want to live my life,” she dished. “I want to stop looking over my shoulder and get over my fear of media.

“I want to not annoy people. If you leave me alone, I will leave you alone. Stop being an ass hole to me and stop going out of your way to look for me and be negative. I just want to live and do things I want to do. I need to control my mind and my words and be compassionate and have empathy.”
