Fans of the show have been itching to know what’s in store for the town of Hawkins, Indiana in the third season of Stranger Things.

To recap, season two ended with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) reuniting with her friends Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) after closing the gate to the Upside Down.

However, the Duffer brothers have also made it clear that the Upside Down isn’t going anywhere, with the last episode ending on a shot of the creepy world beneath Hawkins.

The new trailer for the third season shows that creatures from the Upside Down have made it past Eleven’s gate, and seem to be terrorising an Independence Day carnival.

In addition to this, Netflix released that Lucas’ little sister Erica (Priah Ferguson) will be on a wild mission to save Hawkins from a dangerous and unexpected new threat”.

The teaser also showed that other series favourites would be returning, including Hopper (David Harbour), Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) and Steve Harrington (Joe Keery).

There will also be some new faces, including Mayor Kline ( Cary Elwes from the Princess Bride), Bruce (Jake Busey) and Robin (played by Maya Hawke, daughter of actors Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke).
