Over four years after the series was first announced, HBO has confirmed that the new prequel, A Knight of Seven Kingdoms, will *finally* be dropping this year!

Sharing the first teaser of the series, George told Collider, “It’s a little softer. It’s a little more humourous [than Game of Thrones]. I hope the audience will be open to that kind of change.

What is A Knight of Seven Kingdoms about?

While we don’t know just yet whether or not the series will closely follow the book, the official logline confirms that A Knight of Seven Kingdoms will be set 100 years before the events of Game of Thrones and will follow “a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. (Aegon Targaryen).”

“Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends,” the logline continues.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novella series, the latest Game of Thrones prequel will also follow on from the action of the latest book-to-televison adaptation, House of the Dragon, with A Knight of Seven Kingdoms taking place 72 years after the reign of Aegon II.
