With 891.5 million (and counting) views on TikTok under the search Fourth Wing, it’s safe to say the book series is a hit with fans and #BookTok.
So it comes as no surprise that Fourth Wing is getting the TV adaptation treatment, from Amazon no less, as Deadline confirms a series is in the works.
Amazon MGM Studios and Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society have acquired the rights to Rebecca Yarros’ books, Fourth Wing and the upcoming sequel Iron Flame, along with the three other books in the series (that are yet to be named).
“I’m so humbled and thrilled to announce that Fourth Wing has been optioned and is currently in development for a TV series by Amazon MGM Studios with Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society producing!!!” Rebecca penned on Instagram.
“They’re an ABSOLUTELY incredible team, and I can’t wait to see their adaptation of Fourth Wing brought to life! I have all the faith in the world in them!”
Fans are naturally thrilled. Just a scroll through the comments underneath Rebecca’s post proves such, with many hoping the series lives up to expectations.
“This could be the greatest TV show if well done with the right budget (Game of Thrones type budget),” one user shared.
“I am so afraid but excited,” said another, while a third wrote: “[Omg] they better not mess this up.”
“We need fan approval of the casting,” and plenty more comments follow suit as devoted fans hope the series stays faithful to the books.
What is Fourth Wing about?
The official logline for the Fourth Wing TV series is as follows: “Enter the brutal world of Basgiath War College where there is only one rule: Graduate or Die.
“Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail expected to live a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general – her tough-as-talons mother – has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders.
“If the fire-breathing beasts don’t kill her, one of her fellow riders just might. Suspense, action, romance, and dragons blend together in a propulsive fantasy adventure from NYT bestselling author Rebecca Yarros.”
