In case you somehow avoided the sudden influx of our new favourite prehistoric explorer Jonathan Bailey serving his best Milo from Atlantis, the upcoming sequel, Jurassic World Rebirth, has dinosaur lovers and loathers hyped, to say the least.

With a stacked cast of the internet’s Hollywood faves, and obviously some 11/10 t-rex action, fans are eagerly counting down the days until the film hits our screens and if you missed a chapter, keep scrolling for everything you need to know about the new Jurassic World sequel.

What is Jurassic World Rebirth about?

Most of the plot details for Jurassic World Rebirth are still a closely guarded secret, but thanks to the film’s first teaser trailer, we know that the story will be set roughly five years after the franchise’s most recent revival, Jurassic World Dominion.

Taking fans back into the world of the OG Jurassic Park, the latest sequel will follow our new favourite dinosaur-seeking trio, undercover agent Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson), paleontologist Dr Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey), and team leader Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali), as they attempt to infiltrate the now-abandoned Jurassic Park research facility to recover the DNA of three of the island’s biggest dinosaurs.

Finding a giant dinosaur? Seems easy right? Well, in bad news for the team, the island has since become home to failed, mutated dinosaur experiments, and after being confined to the island for decades, the population has continued to evolve in some new and dangerous ways.

While some fans have been understandably excited to see the essence of the 1990s franchise revived with a new cast, Jurassic World’s most 2015 revival, Jurassic World Dominion, received less than favourable reviews. Fans and critics were quick to criticise the film’s unique sub-plot that centred around the spread of genetically hybrid locusts, with many feeling that the storyline strayed too far away from the central spirit of the Jurassic Park universe.

Who is the cast of Jurassic World Rebirth?

While we may not know too much about their characters yet, the Jurassic World Rebirth cast list has been one of the most hyped since the film’s announcement.

Confirming the news in mid-2024, Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey confirmed that he would be joining the ensemble cast as Dr Henry Loomis.

Revealing his new role to Entertainment Tonight, Jonathan shared, “I will be visiting Jurassic Park… I am really excited. For so many of us, I know it’s just like an iconic cinematic experience.”

Joining the dinosaur expedition alongside Jonathan is Avengers star Scarlett Johansson who will star as covert operations expert Zora Bennett, with Leave the World Behind’s Mahershala Ali overseeing the mission as Zora’s team leader Duncan Kincaid.

While Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum reprised their original roles in the most recent sequel film, Deadline have reportedly that the trio are not set to make a surprise cameo.

Surprisingly, the franchise’s newest generation of stars, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, are also not anticipated to return to Jurassic World, with the latest film set to be a “fresh take” on the previously underwhelming storyline.
