News of a second season came as no surprise to expectant fans. The show has consistently hovered in Netflix’s Top 10 since its release, and the positive reviews keep rolling in. Creator Erin Foster, whose real-life love story inspired the series, already expressed her excitement about continuing Joanne and Noah’s journey.

“There’s so much more story to tell,” Foster said in an interview with Today, hinting that a second season could explore the couple’s challenges in even more depth.

Following news of the renewal, Foster added: “The incredible cast, crew, producers, and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed. I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story, and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I’ve been such a fan of since Girls…Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!”

Who is the cast of Nobody Wants This Season 2?

Our romantic leads, Adam Brody and Kristen Bell, are set to return in season two to the cast alongside all of the major supporting characters from season one. Justine Lupe, who plays Joanne’s sister, Morgan, is returning, as is Timothy Simons, aka Noah’s brother, Sasha. With a hint of romantic tension between these two in season one, season two is set to expand on their odd style of intimacy. The question is, however, are they better as friends or lovers?

Returning supporting cast include, Stephanie Faracy, Michael Hitcock, Tovah Feldshuh, Paul Ben-Victor, Emily Arlook, Jackie Tohn, Sherry Cola, D’Arcy Carden and Shiloh Berman.

However, the headline-making news regarding the season two cast is surely the appearance of Adam Brody’s real-life wife, Leighton Meester. The Gossip Girl alum is joining the Nobody Wants This cast as Joanne’s middle school nemesis, who is now a successful blogger.

The upcoming series will mark the first time that Adam and Leighton have starred together on screen, and given the description of her character, we’re sure to be in for some more drama in Joanne and Noah’s relationship.

Also joining the cast of season two is Bottoms star Miles Fowler, who will step in as Noah’s friend, Lenny, who is set up on a date with Morgan. There’s also Alex Karpovsly, who viewers will recognise as Ray from Girls. Karpovsky will step into a guest spot as ‘Big Noah’, another rabbi at Noah’s temple. Meanwhile Succession star Arian Moayed will play therapist Dr Andy—another potential suitor for Morgan.

What is going to happen Nobody Wants This Season 2?

Without giving too much away, the first season ends on a cliffhanger, leaving fans desperate to know what happens next. Joanne and Noah’s relationship takes a complicated turn after Joanne questions her reasons for converting to Judaism, leading to a heart-wrenching but hopeful finale.

So, what’s next for these two? According to Foster, Season 2 would pick up where we left off, continuing to explore the challenges they face in blending their worlds. “You just get to ‘I love you’ right at the end of the season? That’s a slow trajectory,” Foster told Today, teasing that there’s still a lot of ground to cover in their relationship.

What do the stars say about season 2?

Season one of Nobody Wants This ended on a high but tenuous note. While the question of Joanne’s conversion still hangs in the balance, Noah ultimately won her over with a big carpark confession of commitment. Season two will continue to parse the cultural difference between the two, and how these challenge their relationship. Meanwhile, Morgan’s love life is expected to show up a lot in the subplot, particularly her ongoing chemistry with Sasha.

Both Kristen Bell and Adam Brody previously voiced their interest in returning for another season. Brody mentioned that Noah and Joanne are likely to “meet in the middle” as they try to navigate their differences in Season 2. “It’s such an open-ended ending,” Brody said. “I think they’re going to try to make it work, but what that looks like? I don’t think they even know yet.”

Bell, on the other hand, is excited about the potential for deeper storytelling. “The reason you watch a show is to decide will they or won’t they,” she said, adding that the mystery of their future is what makes the show so compelling. “There’s so much real estate to play with when you’re writing about the challenges of different outlooks on life and love,” she added.

Will Nobody Wants This fans get the happy ending they want?

The burning question on every fan’s mind: Will Noah and Joanne’s love story have a happy ending? While Season 1 left things on a bittersweet note, the cast and creators seem optimistic about the couple’s future. However, the journey will likely be a slow one, as Foster made it clear that their love story is all about taking their time. “If we do get a Season 2, it’s going to be about continuing that slow build,” she said.

Bell echoed the sentiment. “The reason you watch a show is to decide will they or won’t they,” she said, adding that the mystery of their future is what makes the show so compelling. “There’s so much real estate to play with when you’re writing about the challenges of different outlooks on life and love.”

So, now that we have official word on season two’s return, all signs point to more Nobody Wants This in the future. With fans rallying behind the show and the creators eager to dive deeper into the story, it’s only a matter of time before we find out if Joanne and Noah will get their happily ever after.

Stay tuned for updates—because this love story is far from over!
