As huge fans of the show, we can’t help but wonder (read: hope) whether there will be a Season 4 of The Summer I Turned Pretty.
Yes, we know that Jenny Han – the author of the books upon which it was based and the showrunner of the series – has said that Season 3 will mark the end.
But will it really? Well, we’ve investigated and even spoke to Jenny herself to get to the bottom of whether TSITP’s end is nigh.
Read on for everything we discovered…

Will there be a Season 4 of The Summer I Turned Pretty?
At this stage, Prime Video has said that Season 3 is the “finale” season.
And Jenny originally said that too.
But in June 2025, she pivoted slightly and told Entertainment Weekly that she’d be open to doing a fourth season of The Summer I Turned Pretty.
“Never say never; I never do. If the story is there, then I’m there,” she said.

“As a storyteller, you just get hit with inspiration all the time. If I had a really great idea that I was excited by, that I wanted to keep telling the story, and if [the stars] were excited to do it, then I would be so pumped. It really depends on if I feel like there is more story to tell.”
In a similar vein, Lola Tung – who stars in The Summer I Turned Pretty as Isabel ‘Belly’ Conklin – said in the same interview:
“I love working with this group of people and I love working with Jenny. I think it’s such a privilege to be any part of her cinematic universe, so if I was ever asked, I’m there.”
Will there be a spinoff and/or prequel?
WHO was positive that a spinoff/prequel series about Laurel and Sussanah was on the way.

But when we sat down with Jenny in August 2025 and asked about it, she shut us down pretty quickly.
“No. People have been asking for that; even with the books they were asking for that,” Jenny told us.
“It’s just tricky, because I think with any flashbacks, it’s hard, because people get used to seeing the actors playing those characters. And it’s difficult because we love Jackie [Chung] and Rachel [Blanchard] so much as those characters,” she continued.
“Finding that perfect synergy, again, with a younger cast would be a challenge. But not undoable. I’m just saying it’s not currently [in the works].”
