If you were an avid fan of a multiple POV fanfiction back in the day and perhaps had a penchant for a vampire-themed romance, we have good news for you! Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight companion novel, Midnight Sun, is officially being made into a series.
Confirming the news to social media in September 2024, Netflix revealed that the novel, which re-tells the first chapter of The Twilight Saga entirely from the perspective of our favourite glittery heartthrob Edward Cullen, will be arriving on our screens as an animated series.
Returning to the blue-toned cinematic universe of Bella and Edward, Meyer’s latest book-to-screen adaptation will be brought to life by the series’ writer and executive producer, Sinead Daly, who previously worked on blockbuster franchises including The Walking Dead: World Beyond and Tell Me Lies.

What is Twilight: Midnight Sun about?
Have you ever wondered what was running through Edward’s head when he pulled his now infamous stank face towards Bella in their biology classroom? Well, thanks to Midnight Sun, you can sink your teeth deep into Edward Cullen’s internal monologue as the novel re-tells the entirety of the first Twilight book from his perspective.
Midnight Sun kicks off with Edward and Bella’s first meeting, which is soon underscored by Edward’s intense desire to cave into his vampiric urges (because let’s not forget, the Cullens don’t do human blood), coupled with his overwhelming love-at-first-sight attraction to her.
While readers and viewers alike quickly obsessed over his brooding and mysterious vibe, Midnight Sun tells us *exactly* what Edward was thinking in some of the series’ most pivotal early moments – including Bella’s relationship with Jacob, his rivalry with the Volturi, and the overall intensity of his devotion to keeping Bella safe.

When does Twilight: Midnight Sun come out?
Despite confirming the news in September 2024, Netflix has not shared a definitive release date for the upcoming Midnight Sun series, however, the streaming giant has revealed that the project is currently in development.
