It’s safe to say tonight’s episode of The Bachelor was everything we could’ve hoped for and then some. There was a decent amount of drama, some unusual outfits and a few odd encounters (I’m looking at you Nichole) as 20 lovely ladies vying for Matt Agnew’s heart desperately fought for his attention. But through it all, one potential suitor, who made a killer first impression, stood out.
It was Elly, duh.
In less than 45 minutes, the affable nurse went from being just another blonde on our TV screen to this season’s front runner.
WATCH: This is who everyone thought would receive the Golden Ticket
In what appeared to be the most authentic encounter we’ve seen on the show thus far, the Newcastle based nurse and the astrophysicist enjoyed some quality time together, bonding over their careers, hobbies and love of adventure.
You could see Matt was taken aback by her beauty. So much so, he offered her the Golden Ticket— an invitation back to Matt’s hometown for a single date.
In the Bachie world, that’s a HUGE advantage.
After much anticipation, Matt pulled the 24-year-old aside and asked if she’d not only accept the first rose but accompany him to his home in Melbourne for a romantic date.
“I am really enjoying getting to know you and I want that to continue because I feel like there could be something special here,” the devilishly handsome Bachie told the bubbly blonde. “You give me butterflies and at the same time, you make me feel very relaxed. I feel like we’ve known each other for a long time. It would be my pleasure if you take the golden ticket and accept this rose.”
“I’m speechless,” Elly grinned. “I am so happy that I get to know him a little bit better away from everyone. I am so excited. I can’t wait to get to see a bit of Victoria and see where you are from.”
She later told the camera: “Matt’s so much fun. We were smiling a lot and having a bit of a joke around. So that was really nice. That’s ticking some of the boxes for me and, you know, hopefully that was doing the same for him.”
Described by her friends as a “classic Aussie girl and a bit of a bogan”, Elly says she’s ready to settle down but admits “The last person I opened up to broke my heart. I’m scared to be in the situation again where I don’t feel good enough for someone.”

Her ideal date?
“I find sit-down dinners can put a lot of pressure on you to have conversation flow. Hence why a fun activity is always a good option and a good chance to have a bit of banter! E.g. fishing, going to the beach etc.
“If I let my imagination run wild, a dream date for me would be a day full of outdoor activities like fishing (and actually catching heaps of fish) and mud crabbing then heading off to a beach where we’d cook up our catch in a camp oven. Then spend the evening around the fire, listening to music.”
