We felt all the feels when Georgia Love told Matty J that he wasn’t her Mr Right and watched his heart break, but now she’s revealed just what it was like in the aftermath of *that* Bachelorette dumping.

Speaking on the Jeans and a Nice Top podcast, the former Bachelorette, 32, admitted that she didn’t know how popular Matty would be.

“The thing I think was the hardest for me and Lee watching it was it felt like it played out less as our love story and more as Matty J’s heartbreak story,” she said.

“Even though we came out the end so happy it was almost like we were the villains…So because of that there was a huge groundswell of people saying I’d made the wrong decision and Matty had been so good and how could I have been so stupid as to let him go.”

Georgia, who is now married to her winner Lee Elliott, added that it wasn’t just Matty who was left heartbroken and described the experience as “so incredibly difficult”.

“I adored Matty – he and I were like the best of friends and if we’d met in any other situation we’d probably still be really good friends to this day but we met in this weird situation where we’re put in these romantic scenarios and we didn’t fall in love,” she explained.

“But then you’re kind of left not really being able to be friends with that person either so that actually is a really hard thing to do.”

The 2016 Bachelorette added that she found herself “mourning” her friendship and relationship with Matty when she was bombarded with messages from his many fans.

“I’m having all of Australia saying ‘You shouldn’t have done that, he’s such a good guy and he deserves better than you anyway,’ and I’m like ‘I know, I hurt him and I feel awful but I’m really happy and in love with Lee, be happy for me!'”

In March, Georgia and Lee made it official at their stunning wedding held at Tasmania’s Frogmore Creek Winery.

Georgia’s dress was by the same designer who dressed her for her first Bachelorette cocktail party where she met Lee and the newlyweds also recreated the iconic lift from Dirty Dancing as part of their first dance – a move they first tried out on a Bachelorette single date.

“All the clichés are true: it really was the very best day of our whole lives, it really did go SO fast and we really do just want to do the whole thing over and over again,” the reality star penned on Instagram as she shared her wedding video.

Of course, Matty J found his own happily ever after when he met and fell in love with jewellery designer Laura Byrne on season five of The Bachelor.

The couple are not only engaged and in the midst of planning their wedding, but they’re also proud parents to daughters Marlie Mae and Lola Ellis.

Speaking to WHO shortly after their engagement news, Matty said he couldn’t compare the proposal to the moment he chose Laura on The Bachelor.

“It was a different feeling. It was just pure elation and it was much more private,” he said.

“It was more intense, the emotion that came with it – like, I knew I loved Laura back then, but I think now it’s just so much more of an intense love because we spend so much time together and we’ve been through so much.”
