It’s often dubbed the less drama-filled reality show on Aussie screens, but it seems this year’s season of The Block is set to disrupt the status quo.
The popular renovation competition series sees a massive cheating scandal blow-up in this week’s episodes, and it even gets the normally cool and calm Scott Cam a little hot under the collar.
“I was very shocked and disappointed, and I was angry to be quite frank with you,” the long-time host exclusively tells WHO.
“This scandal made it very unfair for everyone. It also affected something I love very much, and that is the build of The Block, the show I host. It affected the integrity of it, and I think jeopardised this season.”
The drama kicks off on Sunday night’s episode, with someone rumoured to be in possession of a very important photo – a photo that will turn The Block upside down.
“I have never seen anything like this with any of the TV shows I’ve worked on over the years,” admits Cam, 58. “We had to have some serious production meetings to establish a way to move forward.”
It’s also set to get this year’s contestants really riled up, with Cam revealing that the next two weeks of the show are full of turmoil.
“There is a lot of tension, there is a lot of finger-pointing and there is a lot of denial,” he adds. “It was all quite bizarre.”
Watch The Block on Sunday, 7pm; Monday-Wednesday, 7.30pm on Nine Network
