Taking part in The Block is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but that doesn’t make leaving your young children behind any easier.
On Sunday night’s episode, we saw that pressure finally catch up with Lisa, who became visibly emotional while talking about her son Lando. The toddler remained at home while she and her husband, Rosco, filmed the show.
Now that filming has wrapped, Lisa has been able to watch the episode back with the same little boy she was missing so much.
Lisa, who is pregnant with her second child, told WHO that Lando had a very animated response when he saw his mum cry over him on television.
“At one point, I was crying about Lando, and he was in the living room jumping up, yelling at the TV, going, ‘Mummy, she’s crying! Mummy, she’s crying!’” Lisa recalled.
“Oh my goodness. It was hilarious.”
For Lisa, watching the moment with her son brought the experience full circle.
“That was a real full-circle moment,” she said.
Lisa has been watching The Block with Lando
Lisa admitted it had been “amazing” to revisit her time on The Block alongside Lando after spending so long away from him during filming.
“It’s been good to relive it,” she said. “It’s been good to be able to watch it with Lando.”
Although seeing herself become emotional most likely felt surreal, Lando’s reaction brought some much-needed humour to the scene.
The toddler may not fully understand why his mum was crying on television, but he certainly understood that something had upset her.
How did Lisa tell Lando she was pregnant?
Lisa found out she was expecting during the opening week of The Block, adding an entirely new challenge to an already demanding competition.
However, Lando was still too young to understand the news while his parents were away filming.
“We didn’t tell him over the phone, obviously,” Lisa explained. “He’s too young to comprehend, but we did kind of show him my belly.”
“At first, he didn’t really get it. He was just kind of like, ‘What?’”
As Lisa’s pregnancy progressed, her belly became more visible, and that was when things finally started to make sense.
“Now you can see my belly and it’s round,” she said.
“He’ll tell anyone who will listen. He’ll go out in public, lift up my shirt, say, ‘Baby,’ and want to show everyone.”
Lisa has a sweet nickname for her unborn baby
While the couple have not publicly revealed their baby’s name, the little boy already has an affectionate nickname.
“We call the baby Wombat because we just do,” Lisa explained.
The nickname also left Lando, who knows what a real wombat looks like, slightly confused.
“I think he’s going to be really shocked when it comes out not grey and hairy because he knows what a wombat is,” Lisa joked.
“He always says, ‘Is Wombat coming today?’ and, ‘Wombat’s in here.’”
The unusual nickname continues a family tradition, with Lisa revealing Lando also had a special nickname before he was born.
“Lando was always Peanut, and this one’s Wombat,” she said.
The Block airs Monday to Wednesday at 7.30pm and Sundays at 7pm on Channel Nine and 9Now.
