At one point or another in this whirlwind Married at First Sight ride, you’ve probably found yourself wondering why on earth the beautiful Heidi Lacham has been single for so many years. After all, if you compare her behaviour to cyclone Cyrell’s she’s certainly the sanest bride on this season of the controversial series!
Well, folks we finally have an answer. And if you’re as invested in this show as I am, you’ll probably cry when you hear the blonde bombshell open up about her troubled past.
Packing her bags and preparing to leave her husband Mike Gunner for the week before the couple meet again at the Final Vows, Heidi spoke candidly about the real reason she’s steered clear of falling in love.
Packing her bags and preparing to leave her husband Mike Gunner for the week before they reunite at the final vows, on tonight’s episode of MAFS, Heidi opened up about her life before the show, admitting that spending time with her television husband has made her feel less alone — an emotion she says she’s struggled to grapple with for most of her life;.
“Being by Mike’s side every day and every night for eight weeks, and then to go from that to nothing… I felt really weird,” an emotional Heidi said. “That’s how I felt growing up. There was nowhere for me to live in the world. That’s how it felt.”
Fighting back her emotions, she continued, “That’s why I haven’t settled down. I haven’t found that person who makes me feel like I belong. I would love to create a family with Mike. That’s what I wanted and I wanted to feel like I can have that. When it’s good, it’s wonderful for us. And then when it’s bad, it feels so awful like, soul destroying.”
Ugh, cue the tears. That’s actually really heartbreaking.
Reflecting on what life would be like with Mike outside of the show, Heidi finds herself reliving the highs and lows of their marriage in the hope of deciding whether she will stay with her outspoken husband.
“It has been a crazy, intense eight weeks. I am not sure if this relationship brings out the best in both of us. You want to be with someone who makes you a better person, makes your heart sing every day or makes you feel so happy and joyous. That’s really what I am thinking about right now. There’s a lot to think about.”
