The wheels are well and truly in motion for the 8th Fast and Furious Movie.
Now, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has given his Instagram followers a first-look at the re-invention of his character “Hobbs”.
Johnson first joined the successful franchise in 2011, for Fast Five. This will be his fourth film as Special Agent Luke Hobbs.
The father-of-two teased a new direction for his character, who came on the scene with a mandate to chase down and capture fugitives Brian O’Connor (Paul Walker) and Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel).
“When you strip a man of all he has. All that’s important to him. You force him to return to his roots.. and sometimes that’s a very dangerous and twisted place.” He wrote on the social media platform.
“If I was going to return for another FAST & FURIOUS I wanted to come in and disrupt the franchise in a cool way that got fans fired up and their blood pumping to see a new version of Hobbs and his “Daddy’s gotta go to work” mentality and set the table in a cool way for where the character goes in the future.”
Johnson’s addition to the cast has been popular with fans, and the former pro-wrestler ensures that this new film is set to deliver the high-octane hijinks expected from the gang. “You guys around the world will really dig this new version of the role, ’cause as we always say, disrupters dent the universe.”
Earlier this year Scott Eastwood, the son of Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood said of joining the franchise. “Paul was a close friend of mine. We surfed together, traveled together, and he was a huge role model and influencing figure in my life when I was younger. He still is. He was an older brother to me. For me to be able to add to the F&F story, Paul’s story, and the FAST family is like a dream come true.”
