The Veronicas have defended themselves against body-shamers once more.
Twins Lisa and Jessica Origliasso, 31, slammed online critics in a June 28 interview with The Fix, airing their frustration over the negative comments.
“Real health doesn’t equate to a number on a scale, it doesn’t equate to one certain body type, it doesn’t equate to healthy people only living a certain lifestyle,” Jess said.
“The most frustrating part of it is just the conversation to be had isn’t the conversation that is being had. The real conversation should be about health.”
The singer detailed her and sister Lisa’s healthy lifestyle, revealing they grow their own organic produce and avoid processed food.
Proving they won’t take trolls lying down, the Veronicas hit back at critics on their Facebook page earlier this month, after a barrage of insults about their figures, with one claiming they were “promoting anorexia.”
“We EAT. We understand that perhaps we are in a minority of people whose frames are naturally smaller than average. But you using us as a billboard of unhealthy eating is 100% incorrect and hurtful,” they wrote. “STOP making assumptions about our health, and STOP the body shaming.”
Earlier this month, Jessica told News Corp Australia that the negative comments affected not only them but also the fans who read them.
“It’s become challenging because it’s constant,” she said. “Being a role model is never easy, and we applaud the girls for not letting these comments about eating disorders go unanswered.”
The criticism comes after the Veronicas released the cover artwork for their latest single, “In My Blood”, which shows the sisters naked and covered in purple glitter.
