The Bachelor’s Brittany: ‘I’m not in love with Nick’

The Bachelor favourite gets candid with WHO.

The Bachelor Australia front-runner Brittany Hockley shares a lot in common with Nick, including being born in the same hospital, but says she’s not ready to use the big “L” word just yet.

“For me, it’s not easy to throw the word ‘love’ around, it’s also hard to get to that point when you know there are other people involved,” she tells WHO.

“I know it’s happening, the feelings are really strong. I want to be with Nick – but I just feel like it would happen really quickly for us if it’s me at the end – so it’s just hard to cross that line when there are three other people left.”

“I can see myself marrying someone like Nick. You can tell he’s a real family person; he will be a really good dad. The guy has more energy than anyone I’ve ever met. [Laughs] You know, you’d be able to pop the kids outside and be like, ‘Off you go!’

“He’s just a really genuine, caring guy so I can see myself falling for and marrying someone like Nick.”

Someone who wasn’t as caring and managed to rub Brittany up the wrong way, was former best friend Cass Wood, who left her fellow contestants in the dark about her previous relationship with Nick, 30.

“I feel hurt because Cass has always adamantly told me that nothing has happened between them. She lied to me the whole time,” Britt said on the Sept. 27 episode of The Bachelor. “It came out at my home town. And I was mortified. I’ve never been so embarrassed in my life. I feel stupid,” she continued.

Unpleasantness aside, Britt admits she would be devastated if she didn’t have a future with the Honey Badger, but she maintains she won’t put her life on hold for anyone.

“At this stage, things are getting real and there are a lot of strong feelings there… This point comes and you start to see each other together and you realise this could be something really good. While I’d be really hurt, everything in life depends on how you react in certain situations. I’d be hurt, but you’ve just got to get on with it…

For me, personally, I’m not going to lock myself in my room and cry.”

However, if the lovable larrikin does choose in her favour, any future plans would be a mutual decision.

“I’m not one of those girls who plans their wedding and picks their ring and dress. It would be a small or medium wedding; I want something really low-key like maybe on a beach. And then a party with friends.”
