Why Did Scrubs End So Abruptly?

Scrubs first aired in 2001, quickly becoming a beloved medical comedy-drama with a dedicated fanbase. The show initially ran for seven seasons on NBC before being cancelled. However, ABC picked up the series for an additional two seasons. The ninth season, however, marked a significant departure from the original format, introducing a new set of characters while the original cast members played reduced roles. This change didn’t resonate well with fans, leading to low ratings and ultimately the show’s abrupt ending in 2010. Despite its sudden conclusion, Scrubs remains a cult favourite.

Could There Be a Scrubs Reboot?

Fans of Scrubs have been clamouring for a reboot, and there may be hope on the horizon. Zach Braff, who played Dr. John Michael “JD” Dorian, recently expressed optimism about the possibility of a reunion. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he hinted that a reboot could happen once certain legal obstacles are cleared up. “Scrubs is a Disney show. Bill [Lawrence, Scrubs’ creator] has a Warner Bros. deal. Once those two companies figure that out, I think the people will get what they want. I think it’s gonna happen,” Braff shared.

Creator Bill Lawrence has also shown interest in reviving the series, though he mentioned he’s not keen on doing a movie. Instead, Lawrence is open to continuing the show for a couple more years, exploring both the original characters’ lives and the challenges faced by new, young doctors in today’s world.

“I don’t want to do it as a movie, but I’m definitely open to doing a couple more years of that show,” he told LADbible. “It would not only be fun to see where the characters I used to love are now, but also to see what a young doctor nowadays looks like, as far as the kids coming in behind them, you know.”

Are Zach Braff and Donald Faison Still Friends?

Yes, Zach Braff and Donald Faison, who played best friends JD and Turk on Scrubs, are still close friends in real life. Braff recently mentioned that he’s still in touch with many of his former co-stars, including Donald Faison. The two have maintained a strong friendship since the show ended, often appearing together in public and on social media. Their real-life bond is as strong as the one they portrayed on screen, much to the delight of Scrubs fans everywhere.
